WWE Reportedly Had Plans For Boxing Champion Tyson Fury Vs
It was reported today by Inside The Ropes that WWE wanted Fury vs. McIntyre, for the WWE Title, to headline a UK pay-per-view earlier this year, but the COVID-19 pandemic nixed those plans. It’s unknown if WWE was going to create a new pay-per-view for the UK, or if one of the regular events would have been moved to the UK.
WWE reportedly wanted to capitalize on McIntyre becoming their first-ever British world champion, and the hunger of the UK fanbase for a big pay-per-view event. It was also said that WWE felt like putting McIntyre against a boxing star with mainstream appeal would help elevate him.
McIntyre and Fury have been feuding for several months on social media, teasing a potential match between the two.
McIntyre spoke with talk SPORT earlier this summer and talked about a possible pay-per-view in the UK.
This situation has affected a lot of plans, let’s just say things were looking positive and when things are looking a little bit more normal, I’ll be pushing once again because, we’re on the right path and it’s not a case of if it will happen, it’s when it will happen. We’ve just got to roll with the punches right now and eventually we will get that UK pay-per-view we deserve, McIntyre said.
He’s been rumored for another match since then, but the coronavirus pandemic and his boxing career have put those plans on the back burner.
However, Tyson was also linked with a boxing match with Triple H. They were going to go 6 rounds as Triple H recalls but by the time the details were being ironed out, Iron Mike had served his suspension and was allowed to box again.
Tyson still made the odd appearance in WWE events and was inducted into the WWE hall of fame in 2010. It is clear to see the impact that Tyson had on the world of wrestling with WWE and McMahon acknowledging this with his induction.
Instead, he was shoved and that was when all hell broke loose as both parties brawled, prompting the entire AEW locker room to spill into the ring.
Jericho and Tyson were kept away from each other but continued their verbal assault at each other.
It comes just four days after Tyson made another wild appearance at the AEW, this time getting directly involved in the action when he was supposed to just hand out prizes.
Tyson has been sharing videos online showing his ripped physique as he looks to make a long-awaited comeback to the ring.
He still has incredible speed and power and this week posted a video training with UFC stars Vitor Belfort and Henry Cejudo.
Strowman and Fury’s bout in Crown Jewel seemed underwhelming to a large number of fans. The fact that it was a count-out did not help the match become any more exciting. This new entry may be a chance for Fury to redeem himself, in the eyes of the WWE Universe
