Saudi Arabia stun Argentina with inspired second-half performance!

Saudi Arabia stunned Argentina with two second-half goals to beat one of the pre-tournament favorites in their first World Cup match on Tuesday, marking the first upset of the 2022 edition of the sport’s biggest event.

why It all seemed to be going to plan for Argentina after their talisman and captain Lionel Messi slotted in a penalty after 10 minutes.

Yet after thoroughly dominating the first half, Argentina failed to capitalize on their superior possession and was ruled offside seven times. They had a goal by Lautaro Martinez disallowed for marginal offside.

However, in the second half, a revitalized Saudi team took to the field with a purpose that they had been missing earlier. Saleh Al-Shehri opened the scoring in the 48th minute with a long ball at the feet of Argentina goalkeeper Damian Martinez.

If that equalizer stun Argentina – and its fans who are quiet – more will follow. Five minutes later, Salem Al-Dawsari put Saudi Arabia ahead.

Argentina applied late pressure but a penalty save from Saudi keeper Mohamed Al-Wais kept the scoreline in favor of the underdogs, who came out on top with a historic win.
